Hon and I met up for London’s 2009 New Year celebratory fireworks on the River Thames. Whether because it was bitterly cold or people didn’t feel they had the money to come out to play, but Waterloo Bridge was not as packed as it could have been. The side on view of the London Eye meant that the patterns of the fireworks weren’t apparent, but I’d give space and the lack of jostling for that any day. (I especially like the photograph of the back-lit crowd looking at a nuclear explosion.)
